The Crone is one of three sets in the Triple Goddess miniseries from our Layering Masterclass. It contains two full size bottles of perfume: Doggy Siren 50 ml and Foxy Nixie 50 ml. You can wear them separately or layer them on your skin to create a lilac and gooseberry perfume: romantic lilac meets juicy, sweet, fully ripe gooseberry with a subtle hint of fermentation. In our story, the Crone represents knowledge, transformation and the understanding that not everything should be rushed. These are two fragrances we’ve selected to pair together, rather than a new blend in a single bottle. The set comes without an additional gift box.

Welcome to Layering Masterclass

Layering is the art of combining perfumes on your skin to create a new scent. In this series, you’ll find sets of perfumes we’ve carefully selected to work beautifully together and create a particular effect. Each set contains separate, full size bottles that you can wear individually or combine, discovering new stories through scent.

The Triple Goddess. Three faces of the sorceress

The Maiden, the Mother and the Crone. In this Layering Masterclass miniseries, we draw on the figure of the Triple Goddess, found in Wicca and other traditions, and translate her symbolism into the language of scent. Like the Moon as it waxes, reaches fullness and begins to wane, she reveals three faces of the same power: discovery, creation and transformation.

At the heart of every recipe is Doggy Siren lilac perfume. We pair it in turn with green gooseberry, rhubarb and ripe gooseberry, showing how the same lilac can change its character depending on what accompanies it.

The Crone belongs to the time of the waning Moon. To knowledge gathered along the way, transformation and the understanding that not everything that passes truly disappears.

Each face has its time. Each will return to you in its own turn.

Lilac and ripe gooseberry perfume = Doggy Siren 50 ml + Foxy Nixie 50 ml

Not every spell grows stronger when you say it faster.

Some need time. You have to let fruit ripen, let the Moon move through all its phases and let certain questions remain unanswered a little longer than you first felt comfortable with.

In our interpretation of the Triple Goddess, the Crone is the face of knowledge and transformation. She no longer needs to explore every possibility simply because it exists. She knows when to act, when to let go and when the most powerful thing she can do is simply wait.

That’s why Foxy Nixie has a place in her recipe. This is no longer green gooseberry picked a little too soon. The fruit has had time to ripen. It has grown juicier, sweeter and fuller, its scent developing a subtle hint of fermentation that wasn’t there before.

Paired with Doggy Siren, it creates a lilac and gooseberry perfume, but one quite different from the younger face of this story. Romantic, nostalgic lilac meets ripe fruit. Tartness gives way to greater sweetness and juiciness, and the pairing takes on a deeper, richer character.

Lilac and gooseberry. Sound like the beginning of a familiar story?

This time, the story has had a little time to mature.

The set contains Doggy Siren 50 ml and Foxy Nixie 50 ml. Two separate bottles you can wear individually or combine on your skin in whatever proportions you choose. More lilac, more ripe gooseberry, more flowers or more juicy fruit. The Crone knows the recipes. That doesn’t mean she always follows them.

Doggy Siren 50 ml + Foxy Nixie 50 ml: why does it work?

This pairing brings together two scents steeped in nostalgia, each contributing something different to the blend.

Doggy Siren brings floral, romantic lilac with a soft, familiar character. Foxy Nixie answers with juicy, fully ripe gooseberry: sweeter and fuller than its green counterpart, with a subtle hint of fermentation.

Together, they create a lilac and gooseberry perfume in which the fruit deepens the floral sweetness rather than cutting through it with sharp acidity. The lilac remains distinctly floral, while gooseberry adds juiciness, depth and a rich fruitiness.

The result is a blend of flowers and fruit with a more mature character than the pairing of Doggy Siren and green gooseberry. Familiar lilac remains the starting point, but the fruit reveals just how much the same recipe can change with time.

How to layer perfumes, step by step

Start with a 1:1 ratio and see which part of the blend you’d like to bring forward.

More Doggy Siren will draw the scent towards lilac, making it more floral, soft, romantic and nostalgic.

More Foxy Nixie will emphasise the juiciness, sweetness and ripeness of the gooseberry, along with its subtle hint of fermentation.

If you mainly want lilac with fruit in the background, make Doggy Siren your dominant layer and add a smaller amount of Foxy Nixie.

For a juicier, fuller, fruitier blend, reverse the proportions and let Foxy Nixie lead, using Doggy Siren as a floral accent.

You can apply both fragrances to the same spot so they come together more quickly in a single lilac and ripe gooseberry accord, or apply them to different areas of the body. With the second approach, you’ll catch them in turn: the floral scent of lilac one moment, the juiciness of fruit the next.

Take your time finding your ideal proportions.

The Crone would tell you that you don’t have to know everything after your first attempt anyway.

Meet the other faces of the sorceress in the Triple Goddess series

There are two more faces to this story.

In the Maiden: lilac and green gooseberry set, the same floral lilac meets gooseberry picked earlier: greener, sourer and distinctly tart. This is the face of curiosity, discovery and first experiments.

Mother: lilac and rhubarb pairs lilac with juicy rhubarb that’s both sweet and tart. This is the face of creation: the moment when you already know the recipe, but begin to change it on your own terms.

The same lilac. Three different spells. You don’t have to follow any of them to the letter.
